Samarreta

Antoni Tàpies, born in Barcelona in 1923, found a new path in art after an accident that changed his life. From 1946 onwards he devoted himself to abstraction and surrealism and created works that fascinate with their rough texture and deep symbolism. International recognition followed through exhibitions such as the Venice Biennale and the documenta in Kassel. In 1984 he founded the "Fundació Antoni Tàpies" in his hometown to further advance art. Tàpies died in 2012, but his works still tell of a unique confrontation with matter and spirit.
