Keith Zenda

Keith Zenda is a contemporary artist from Zimbabwe whose work combines spirituality, ancestral wisdom, and human resilience. His style blends symbolic realism and abstract expressionism, using bold colors, textured layers, and African materials such as fabrics and beads. Deeply rooted in Shona culture, his works explore themes such as ancestral guidance, totems, feminine strength, and collective identity. With the Zendaism he coined, Zenda created an artistic movement that focuses on memory, self-discovery, and cultural dignity. His journey began with homemade brushes and recycled materials. His breakthrough came with Freedom Revisited —a painting that transformed rejection into creative strength. Today, his works are exhibited worldwide, including in Berlin, Zurich, and Hong Kong. A work on Great Zimbabwe hangs as a diplomatic gift in the office of the Chinese president. Through the Zenda Art Centre in Gweru, he supports young talent and strengthens a sense of community and cultural awareness. Keith Zenda lives in Harare and Gweru and is committed to international art exchange as co-founder of the Swiss-Zim Heritage Gallery.
