Gegensätze ziehen sich an – um dann am Schluss doch wieder Eins zu werden.
Auf den ersten Blick sind in den Bildern von Sonja Schmid keine Gegensätze erkennbar. Im Gegenteil: Die Bilder faszinieren gerade wegen ihrer ganzheitlichen Harmonie. Und doch beginnt die Malerin jedes Bild immer wieder als unkontrolliertes Experiment, das sich frei von Strukturen entwickeln kann, um dann zum Schluss doch wieder in Farben, Formen und Dimensionen zusammenzufinden.

Obwohl sich in Sonja Schmids neuesten Bildern sichtbare Veränderungen zeigen, und sie sich offensichtlich auch mit ihrem grossen Thema der Farbenmischung weiter auseinandergesetzt hat, ist sie ihrer Neigung zu ausladenden Wänden und grossen Raumverhältnissen bei der Bestimmung der Bilddimensionen treu geblieben. Nebst ihrer steten Sehnsucht nach Grösse und Weite finden sich in der Farbenwahl ihres aktuellen Schaffens auch ganz neue Gefühle. Damit ist ihre Absicht, unverwischbare Spuren in der Seele jedes Betrachters zu hinterlassen, ohne Zweifel erfüllt.
